Random bits

* The new radio ad for GIO insurance is shitting me. There's a line in there which reminds me of the old McDonalds radio ad of "Let's have some fun with your speakers" - GIO's ad takes on this stereo madness, which is all well and good - but the ad is being played on 2GB! That's right, an AM station broadcasting in MONO on the analogue system...if you're not listening to it on digital radio, the stereo line is absolutely farken useless!

* Held out for as long as I could but then there was someone I wanted to reply to and couldn't without an account - what am I talking about? Twitter of course. Follow me at http://twitter.com/frankster73

* Is it just me or did anyone else also find last week's edition of John Safran's Race Relations hysterical? Thought it was hilarious! Palestinian nurse...palestinian nurse...

* The wonderful Tara Moss has another book out and iTunes has it listed for $26. Me want! It's nice to have her read to you at bedtime...problem is, fall asleep and you wake the next morning with her saying "Chapter 23" or something.

* Triple M's Spoonman no longer doing the "Random Rave" podcast due to other committments within the station. Bugger. Was a freakin' awesome podcast. Ah well. More power to the guy anyway, been lizzenin' to the dude ever since he was doing overnights on 2UE in the early 90's, and to have met him at Triple M's Sydney HQ was awesome, though I probably caught him on a bad night.

* Channel 7's new digital channel, 7TWO, will be up and running from this sunday, November 1st, at noon. Placeholder currently up. I heard they were gonna play Murphy Brown on it...no no freakin' NO!! It's been done a thousand times already on various networks. What's the use of all these extra channels if the content is the same?

* Few things being said about Telstra changing studio-to-transmitter links and the fact there's a delay with the digital lines which are taking over the analogue ones. Knew something was going on when my sister was listening to 2GB yesterday while I was on 2UE, and the top of the hour pip tones WERE delayed relative to 2UE's!.

* Memo 2UE - increase the time your no signal detector kicks in before starting the standby audio. 10 seconds? Not too good if you're running quizzes and the person needs a few seconds to think and it's transmitted as dead air. Noticeable stuttering on Paul B Kidd yesterday when program came back...

* Welcome back to Trevor Long who's back at 2GB hosting a new technology show from 7pm this thursday night!

* Had the displeasure of listening to 2DAY-FM Sydney while I was getting my ears lowered today (getting a haircut). Aaarrgggghhhhh...Sydney's Hit Music Station? Um...yeah, for their demographic it is...

Video Update - October 12th 2009

Thanks must go to the good folk at Zanyspace who resolved a problem with the ftp! This update was to go live a couple of hours ago but we just couldn't connect - thankfully all is well now so enjoy this update! At the moment (10.45pm AEDST 12th October 2009) everything is being uploaded and should all be done just after midnight. I'm monitoring things but although its still connected and uploading it is giving out connection errors every so often so this update may or may not complete successfully. If you find any links that aren't working, drop us a line at the email address to the right and we'll try and find out what the hell is happening.

Is Zanyspace being hacked?

G'day bloggers,

A fresh video update is all ready to go but I'm unable to upload it as yet. The server returns this message:

"Response: 530 Sorry, the maximum number of allowed clients (50) are already connected."

WHAT?!? I hope this doesn't mean I'm being hacked for the second time in 2 years!
