Malcolm Fraser gets edited up Pauline Pantsdown style!
**Clip available from 4.15pm AEST Wednesday July 29th 2009**G'day bloggers,
This bit of vision was sent to me on a DVD recently! I have no other details as the disc is just a white label, and has no accompanying text or information. All I know is that this starts with bars 'n' tone, a 9 to 2 second VT clock (with each second instead of having a beep is cut with various sound effects), then some national anthem vision the ABC used during their 1980's closedowns, and then a cut up speech featuring Malcolm Fraser, cut together in the same method the Pauline Pantsdown songs were! Watermark-free for your enjoyment. So it's therefore I call this clip "The Mysterious Tape"!

2DAY-FM Sydney does it again
G'day bloggers,
Well, this story this morning which got a run on the Ray Hadley Morning Show on 2GB I must admit has left me amazed.
2DAY goad sex questions from 14 year old rape victim This first appeared on their Livenews site and then it made it on air. The story is that the Kyle 'n' Jackie O brekky show have a segment called Lie Detector and this morning had a mother and her 14 year old daughter on there. According to livenews, the mother had some concerns after her daughter was dropped off home by undercover police officers.
The producers, crew and everyone else associated with the show claim to not have known about what was about to transpire on air, and fair enough, they might not have. But I do know it may have left everyone involved gobsmacked if not concerned and/or upset for the girl. So what happened? The segment only got to the second question before the segment was terminated by Jackie O - the question was from the mother to the daughter, "have you had sex?", to which the daughter replied:
"I was raped when I was twelve years old!"
Deafening silence all around after that, then:
Kyle: "Right...is that the only experience you've had?"
Jackie: "I think we should abort this segment"
2DAY and other Austereo stations have done some stupid stuff lately which has sometimes left me shaking my head in disbelief wondering how they got away from them, and other times leaving me laughing my absolute bloody head off, such as their recent descriptions of Nate Myles and their descriptions of what he did. But I'm afraid this has crossed the line. Big time.
What gets me is these stations have a delay system which they use for their callers in case anything's said that shouldn't go to air - this ranges from 7 to 10 seconds but apparently some can be variable up to 20. It's probably time they ran segments like that via delay. It could save a lot of hassle.
Now the word is they'll get some kind of reprimand from ACMA, which was once known as the toothless tiger in the industry. What will they be doing I wonder. Fine the station? That won't hurt them a bit. Suspend the broadcasting licence? Not likely. The fact also that the mother put her daughter in that situation is also a factor that needs to be considered.
2DAY will be releasing a media statement "soon". Watch this space.
Hey Hey It's Saturday coming back!
G'day bloggers,
Some awesome news to come out of media circles in the last 12 hours, and that is for fans of Hey Hey It's Saturday like I am, the show's coming back!! Hooray!!
Word is there will be two reunion specials and if they take off the show will be making a full-blown return. Let's hope some of the early material that can be used in the reunion is still in 9's archives
will be used as a nice look-back. Let's hope whatever's left in the vault can be still played and/or dubbed (I assume it varies between film, 2 inch, and 1 inch) as there's lots of hilarious moments I remember over the show's history.
For now though, enjoy the following few clips from the Frankster vault of this awesome show! Presented watermark-free for your enjoyment and available for download from 8.00pm AEST Sunday July 26th 2009.

Top Ryder?
G'day bloggers,
I was out and about in Ryde today and I noticed a fair few green bus stop signs up with "Top Ryder bus stop" printed on them.
I haven't heard of Top Ryder before but I
do know of Top Ryde. Is it a misprint? If it is it's a pretty widespread misprint!
Nate Myles news report on FM stations
G'day bloggers,
Well...this time, a bouquet is in order to the Austereo network for making me chuckle this afternoon. According to livenews.com.au:
FM News may be in the poo after Nate Myles reportingApparently some phrases were used in that news like "taking a dump in the corridor" which was then followed up in other bulletins with "dropping the kids off at the pool", "laying a cable", "doing his best Mr Whippy impersonation" and "leaving a kinder surprise". The last two had me laughing my bloody head off!
Austereo newsroom, I have to hand it to you. Well done this time :-)

This is part of 2GB's standby tape - you'll only hear it if 2GB go off the air for 30 seconds. When they do, this bit of audio starts from the transmitter site. The pops and the humming plus the distortion is not a fault with my levels, but how it went to air! 2NSB Chris Caggs promo - 0:35, 836 KB

NSW Health website carrying a trojan!
G'day bloggers,
Logged onto NSW Health website tonight after being curious about what I was told by my neighbour yesterday, that her daughter's entire family was struck down by a stomach bug. Couldn't find anything even related to it so probably food poisoning, but curiously, this warning from my Avast! antivirus popped up...
Phil "Gus" Gould on Triple M's Monday Night Footy
G'day bloggers,
Well...I don't know whether or not he was joking or just being facetious, but Phil "Gus" Gould on Triple M's Monday Night Footy call tonight (July 6th) just said something about someone being naked outside their hotel room, and we'll know what's doing in 24 hours time.
That's all I know. Maybe I was hearing things. I'm sure he said "hotel room naked", and "24 hours". We'll soon find out more won't we?
Hmm..

Random bits
G'day bloggers,
Well, how did we go with Oz Lotto the other night? Me? I fell back to Division 6 - $20.45..got the $19.20 cost of my ticket back with $1.25 on top. Wo-ow. Four numbers and one supplementary meant I fell back to four numbers only. Ah well.
I found
this story on Sam's blog this morning quite amazing! It must've been a hell of a gust to take down an entire transmitter tower. I certainly hope the guy wires didn't come from some poor hardware shop's end-of-financial-year sale! Sam's done a wonderful job taking a couple of photos of the site and the tower and its probably the closest I'll ever get to a radio tower too. Quite amazing for people like me who find all this stuff interesting. Have never been inside a transmitter hut though.
OK, now on another front. This involves Angela Bishop, Network 10's entertainment reporter and appearing a number of times on radio 2GB. I hear numerous comments on message boards saying oh she's ugly, oh she's got bad legs blah blah blah. You know what? I think Angela is a definite plus, particularly her legs! You can't argue with legs like these can you?

(thanks to the gang at
Ozcelebs.net for the second image of Angela on the red carpet)
Now, compare Angela to this:

I know which one I'd rather go for - that's right, Angela. She's got better legs anyway! - and honestly, I couldn't care if you wanna be critical of my taste in women. I'd much rather have someone who isn't a stick figure - and am I ashamed to admit it? NO. Ashamed to admit I like Angela Bishop? NO. I still say she has brilliant legs that's for sure, and if she wants to show them off I say more power to her!
Rant over.
