Getting on with life despite setbacks. One day at a time. Don't come into my life if you don't intend to stay.

Here’s another one of my mixes, and I take you right back to 2009 for this one. This is my remix of Bronski Beat’s “Hit that perfect beat”, a song I loved for a long time, and one I thought deserved the Frankstermix treatment. Enjoy!

Since the early 1990’s, I’ve been doing some interesting stuff with music. I love making my own remixes of songs as a hobby, but because I haven’t tried to obtain any rights, I’m unable to commercially release any, so I thought I’d put some up here each update and let you listen to some of my work! These are represented here for promotional use only.

As some of you may know, recently there’s been a few multitracks of songs around, where these can be loaded into an editor (such as Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Sound Forge etc), and new mixes of songs can actually be made up due to the individual elements being able to be manipulated. Most have been sourced from the guitar hero and rockband series of multitracks, but some from the actual master tapes have also turned up!

The one I present here is REO Speedwagon’s “Keep On Loving You”, coming in the form of 7 channels. I could not resist making my own remix of the song – this one is simple, as all I’ve done is mix the main vocals out, but it’s provided an interesting sound so I hope you enjoy it!

2RDJ Sydney: Reggae Nights master production DAT, 1995
Original format: R-DAT audio tape

Continuing on this time around with the Reggae Nights master production DAT, here are the next few tracks. First up, an ident for “The only reggae show in Sydney” voiced by me!

Reggae Nights: The Only Show In Sydney ID
Dur: 0’09”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 385 KB

This next one was done in a session with a guy calling himself Lil’ FX, who I only learned much later that he was actually Rodney Rude’s soundo! Few of them here, here’s one still following on from the Oasis TV spot.

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 1
Dur: 0’11”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 469 KB

This cut is pretty much identical to the above one except I edited in an “aaah” vocal which is meant to sound as if he’s having a drink halfway through, ala Oasis TV spot.

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 2
Dur: 0’13”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 552 KB

This one is just a generic “Well C’mon” imitating a UB40 track.

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 3
Dur: 0’04”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 195 KB

Along the way, Lil also did us some sound FX – here’s him imitating a lion. I recorded him doing this at 15 IPS, then slowed the tape down to 3 3/4 IPS. Here’s how it sounded!

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 4 – Lion
Dur: 0’11”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 443 KB

In this next one, Lil does his best Freddie Kruger impersonation:

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 5 – Freddie Kruger
Dur: 0’26”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 1.0 MB

Lil then launches back to his jamaican accent and does this – it’s cut off abruptly as we decided to not use this cut to air:

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 6 – Jamaican
Dur: 0’07”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 1.3 MB

This is another unused cut:

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 7 – Jamaican
Dur: 0’11”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 464 KB

Lil lapses into some kind of accent which I have no idea what his intention really was. This was another cut we left unused:

Reggae Nights: Lil’ FX ID’s cut 8 – Accented Gentleman
Dur: 0’19”, 320 kbps 44 kHz Stereo, 762 KB

Lil once again goes back to his jamaican accent for this one and I think he did a good job! This one we actually used on air:
