It seems Sydney's 2UE at Greenwich has suffered smoke through their building this afternoon due to a fire downstairs at the Dick Smith Electronics store.

This at Wireless Fodder gave me a chuckle though with a couple of stills - the pics fit Matt's reference to it perfectly. It's at SMH, it's at News.com.au and probably all over the net by now. We're at the moment trying to source some audio from it and if we do get it it'll be up here. Apparently when UE got their net back a few listeners wrote in saying they hated the music being played in its place - some reports suggest it was the 7 minute epic Macarthur Park, and though that might've been played, I can't imagine it being on a standby tape or CD which is normally played at the transmitter - because last year their standby held of all things, "The entertainer"...nope, not the Billy Joel one, the honky tonk style piano one! Pity the standby didn't start with "We didn't start the fire"...
