ANZAC Day 2008
G'day bloggers,
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
Frankster's Archive would like to thank the Australian War Memorial for the use of the above stanza.
I remember in 2005 when I was attending AFTRS sitting in a room with several students and our lecturer at the time, Peter Saxon (head of Radiowise Media Networks), and Peter playing us CD's of radio features to do with war. One guy I listened to really moved me. He was telling the interviewer that during combat, he had his best mate next to him, who was killed, and to get to the other side he had to walk over him - the saddest part of this story was when he mentioned as he walked over him, he heard his ribs cracking under his feet. When Peter had switched off the CD player I looked into space in shock - and that's just one of the horrible atrocities these brave guys had to deal with in combat.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Update 5.01pm: I'm sorry to have to report this everyone, but I've just heard on 2GB's Macquarie National News that a 65 year old was bashed while on his way to the ANZAC Day commemoration in Victoria - and for what? His mobile phone. Unbelievable! To that arsehole who bashed him, rot in hell you despicable bastard.

You're spot on Frank! I hope who ever bashed the old guy for his mobile phone gets what's coming to him.
