A catch-up

G'day bloggers,

No, the title of this post doesn't reflect the Channel 9 show of the same name which got the chop, but it's more where the hell I've been.

Some of you may have noticed a planned audio/video update for monday was shelved and didn't appear. I have to tell you it has been an absolutely manic 72 hours and I'm so glad it's now the end for another week and I can catch up on some rest over the next couple of days.

Monday

Monday comes, and that night is the first night at tech for my radio course I enrolled in. Transport was planned a couple of days before and everything was sweet. Well at least I thought it was. My father has Emphysema, brought on by 40 years of smoking, and he didn't feel at all well on Monday and had pains that radiated from his chest right around to his back. He went to the doctor's, and they took X-rays of his chest straight away, and they put him onto a course of antibiotics called Keflex. Very strong stuff, I had a course of those when I somehow had a problem with my right ear which extended into a condition called Acute Otitis Media in 2005 - pretty much a childhood disease! A few tabs of Keflex and I was just fine. Dad is now into day 3 of Keflex and he feels fantastic again. No pains or anything. The X-rays came back that afternoon and they found just a slight infection, to ours and his relief! Tonight, he's fine again. Of course this meant I had to make alternate transport arrangements. No problem, worked out the bus routes there and back, and everything was fine. For a while. I couldn't have been more wrong. Where the place I had to go was was a fair walk away from the bus stop!! So here I am, walking around and around, and I somehow managed to do the same street twice by foot. It's 11am and the temperature's rising. By this time I'm sweating like a pig. 12.30pm comes and I give up because I can't continue. I call a taxi, it arrives, and I head off to my next destination which is Burwood. Things didn't go quite as screwy there but I was told by a certain agency things I didn't wanna hear. So I left in a huff, and climbed into another taxi and headed for home. I got the good news about Dad's X-Rays when I got home, and I just fell to pieces. It all got too much - just a lot at once. After I finished, I managed to calm down enough to get myself together, and looked forward to the evening's classes. They finished at 9pm when I got home absolutely exhausted.

Tuesday

Another busy day, this time rushing around getting the appropriate text books for the course as we were told we would be using them on week 2 - IE, next week. That all went well, and then I had a fish meal for lunch, and took off back to Burwood because I am now also involved in a major video transfer project and needed DVD's (and yes, I do have the person's permission as he used to host the show being transferred and have dubs made right off the TV broadcast masters). So picked those up, and it all went well. Got home in the afternoon heaps exhausted again, and had some rest before dinner, then got into some video transfers for this dude. Day finished at 11.30pm where I crawled into bed, in preparation for an orientation day starting at 9.30am the next day.

Today (Wednesday)

The day arrives and out of bed I jump at 7.30am and get all scrubbed up and ready for the orientation, somewhat dreading the day as the night classes were still to take place and if they went ahead this would be a 14 hour day as I wouldn't finish until 9.30pm tonight. After orientation I was told the module we were gonna do in the evening we were gonna do this afternoon, and the night classes for tonight would be cancelled. No 14 hour day. Yes!! So did that, and arrived home at 4.30pm. Got onto more video transfers, and tape is rolling as I speak. Had lunch at home, at 4.45pm - all of 2 slices of pizza! Having dinner at 10pm, with days off from tomorrow until 6pm monday. Phew. Good. I need a proper rest!!

Tomorrow looks to be the day for an update to the site in terms of audio video stuff. So for those of you wondering where the hell I've been, there's the last 3 days in a nutshell. Next week will be back to normal it would seem. At last. The first week can really stuff you around. I don't think I've ever been quite so exhausted in my life before.
